Module 3: The 10 Turtle Tools to Global Change

21 years ago, Heidi Conway received what would become an integral part of Changemaker Communication. While recording her end of a coaching conversation—curious to hear for herself what clients and students couldn’t explain about what she did differently—she uncovered ten powerful practices that set her approach apart from other coaches, therapies, and teaching methods.
Those practices, now called the 10 Turtle Tools to Global Change, are simple, adaptable, and transformational—tools for parents, educators, and young people to consciously practise until they become an unconscious way of being. Rooted in the symbolism of the turtle—wisdom, patience, protection, and resilience—they align beautifully with alternative education, The Changemaker Way™, and the development of essential daily living skills, independent living skills, and community participation.
In this module, you’ll learn how to use these tools to raise happy, confident, future-ready young people—and to support them in becoming purposeful, capable, and connected members of their community. You’ll discover what each tool is, why it matters, when and where to use it, who it serves, and how to make it part of everyday life—building confidence, resilience, and the capacity to live well both independently and interdependently.
